Needs Assessment

This assessment will provide information about your specific training needs based on the skills and knowledge required for selected jobs or positions. This can be completed for an individual or for a defined group of people.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: In the table below, list the skills and knowledge (i.e. communication, supervision, sales, etc.) required for the specific job or position under Column A.

Step 2: For each skill listed in the table below, rate both the existing ability levels (Column B) and job need levels (Column C).

Ability relates to how much training one needs or could provide, amount of supervision required, degree of confidence, and occurrence of mistakes or revisions.

Job Need refers to how frequently the skill or knowledge is used, how essential it is to the job, how observable it might be, and how important it is to the organization.

Please reference the following rating scale guidelines:

Step 3: Submit completed assessment information to Vision Quest.

Step 4: Using your ratings, Vision Quest will plot your numbers on a graph to identify your needs in four distinct areas:

  • Critical training need
  • Moderate training need
  • Adequate skill/knowledge
  • Career growth opportunity

The assessment and resulting graph will be mailed to you along with an action plan suggesting activities for improvement.
